- In November 2008, after meetings with the team it was agreed that we now look to re-brand to assist the company in its expansion planning and on the 30th November CBK Wales was launched to the public.
- November 2008. CBK Swansea are pleased to announce the appointment of Justin Williams as a full Independent Mortgage & Protection Adviser. Justin once again joins us from the same firm as Martin, Suzanne, Roger and Caroline. He joins CBK as an adviser with a large and loyal client base, he is also based in Pontypridd and is also looking to expand CBK’s presence in that area. Justin is well known and respected as a well known former rugby player and now poacher turned game keeper as a ‘rugby referee’ who is quickly building a reputation as a fair and respected referee.
- November 2008. CBK Swansea are pleased to announce the appointment of Caroline Pugh as a full Independent Financial Adviser. Caroline joins us from the same firm as Martin, Suzanne and Roger. Caroline comes to CBK as an IFA with an impeccable record and a very loyal client base, she is based in Pontypridd and is looking to expand CBK’s presence in that area.
- October 2008, negotiations have been completed with two new advisers to join the Company and we are awaiting authorisation by the Financial Services authority before introducing them to our clients.
- In October 2008, Keith Jones decides to leave CBK Swansea. The impact of the credit crunch has affected Keith Jones more than most and Keith decides to leave the industry completely. All at CBK Swansea wish Keith the very best in his new career as a salesman for a local security company.
- Negotiations begin with a number of new advisers to attempt to further expand the Company to meet with the demand of its clients. It was agreed that only the very best advisers in Wales would be appointed to work with the Company.
- September 2008, CBK Swansea open new offices in Barry and launch a local rate telephone number for all clients 0844 669 8088
- 1st August 2008, CBK Swansea are pleased to announce the appointments of Both Roger Grigg and Suzanne King previously Mortgage brokers with a Cardiff firm of advisers. Roger brings with him a large client and loyal base and an impeccable record as a Mortgage Broker. Suzanne joins the company with a loyal client base, a burgeoning reputation in the industry. Suzanne is a fluent welsh speaker and allows CBK Swansea to expand their client base by offering a service to Welsh Speakers.
- 1st August 2008. Martin Rivers is appointed as a Director and shareholder of CBK Swansea Ltd. CBK Swansea are really pleased to bring on board such a well respected adviser and wish him all of the best for the future.
- July 2008, John Chapman a Mortgage Broker with CBK suffers a heart attack and undergoes open heart surgery and a quadruple bypass is performed. All at CBK wish John and his family a speedy recovery.
- Negotiations are ongoing with the IFA and a deal is agreed for him to Join CBK. As a part of the negotiations two mortgage advisers have agreed to join CBK along with the IFA from the firm they are all currently authorised with.
- January 2008. Mk starts to negotiate with a respected IFA in Cardiff about joining CBK as a Director and expanding the business into Cardiff.
- In December 2008, a major coup for CBK Swansea Ltd. Mr Keith Jones formerly the founder and Managing Director of Keith Jones Associates and KJA Mortgage Brokers is appointed as a member of CBK Swansea Ltd. Keith brings a vast wealth of experience in the industry and is very well known as one of the Major mortgage advisers in the area, Keith starts with CBK Swansea Ltd in the January of 2008 and enable CBK Swansea to continue its steady expansion. Keith’s knowledge and expertise will further emphasis the quality of advice that is provided by CBK Swansea Ltd who are now building an enviable reputation for good quality advice.
- In December 2007, CBK Swansea Ltd offered a position as a Mortgage Broker to Mr John Chapman formerly a Lloyds Bank Manager for 20 years and for the last 5 years a Mortgage Broker with NatWest Bank. John agreed to the position and pending authorisation by the FSA will start work with CBK Swansea Ltd in 2008.
- In November 2007, unfortunately Mr Keith Williams who was a founder member of the team at CBK Swansea Ltd and was the main Mortgage broker for the company decided to leave and to Join the Royal Bank of Scotland as Financial adviser. All at CBK Swansea wish Keith the best of luck in his new career.
- In October 2007, Mark Kearle was again appointed to the role of Chapter Director of the BNI chapter he was a member of.
- In September of 2007, one of the ‘MAIN’ areas of concern that the clients of CBK Swansea had stated in the survey was the lack of a ‘WEBSITE’ for the company where they could access data for their investments and could also access various areas of advice from companies that CBK Swansea Ltd deal with and trust. To this end Mark Kearle the Managing Director of the Company and one of the original directors of Chadborn Baker & Kearle Ltd, started to research the various companies who can set up and develop a ‘Web-Site’ that would meet all of CBK Swansea’s and its clients needs and after interviewing numerous Companies it selected NetBop Technologies Ltd who’ s Director Mr Andrew Downie had won numerous awards and praise from some of the industries top companies and magazines. As Andrew was also a client of CBK Swansea, he was also able to put his point of view as to what he as a client wanted from the website.
- Throughout the year, CBK Swansea continued to grow and developed relationships through its membership of the Business Networking Institute (BNI) which is breakfast club where numerous companies get together one morning a week at 6.30am to discuss business and to see how each company can help them and their clients get the best service possible. Companies like solicitors Peter Lynn and Partners represented by Stuart Atherton, accountants Morgan Hemp Ltd represented by Richard Morgan, web developers NetBop Technologies represented by Andrew Downie, IT consultants Pisys Ltd resprented by John Merrick, business consultants Frogmore consulting represented by Marianne Pettifor to name but a few. In the October of 2006 Mark Kearle was appointed as the Director of the BNI Chapter he was a member of and bringing his inimitable style of leadership helped to grow the group to a new level of members. Mark was the leader of the group until March 2007.
- In May 2006, CBK Swansea Ltd launched its Statement of Principle’s which was derived from the comments and praises from the clients of the company in its recent survey. The Company have fully implemented all aspects of the FSA’s Treating Customers Fairly Campaign and believe that ALL Financial Advisers and Mortgage Brokers need to start to treat all of their clients fairly if they want to survive in the industry.
- At the end of March 2006, when all of the surveys had been collected, Mrs Martha Clarke who had helped to set up and run the Treating Customers Fairly campaign ran the draw for the £200 worth of Marks and Spencer vouchers and the first name out of the hat were Mr & Mrs Gordon and Mary Howard. In being presented with the vouchers Mrs Howard stated that the win would come in very handy as she needed a ‘New’ outfit for a trip of a lifetime on the Orient Express from Swansea to London that was happening in the summer of 2006.
- Various news agencies heard of the CBK Swansea’s decision to close for St Davids day and both Real radio and the new Swansea Bay radio ran their hourly news reports with the closure of CBK Swansea Ltd a main topic of discussion.
- 1st March 2006, CBK Swansea Ltd closed for St. Davids Day. Mark Kearle the Managing Director of the Company stated that he remembered when back in his School days all of the schools closed in the afternoon for St Davids day, he was very proud to be Welsh and if it was OK for the Irish to celebrate St Patricks day by taking the day off and going for a drink, then why not celebrate the Welshness of CBK Swansea Ltd and also close for the day. When the office manager Mrs Helen Evans was asked what she intended doing on her extra day off, she stated “That she was going to go into town and celebrate in style.”
- Generally, responses to Company Surveys are estimated to be between 4% & 7%. However, 23% of CBK Swansea’s clients responded to the survey, many praising the levels of service and advice from the team at CBK Swansea Ltd, this was an unexpected and very pleasing result for the team at CBK Swansea Ltd and the Managing Director was literally bowled over with the results and compliments that were gained from the Survey.
- In 2005, The Financial Services Authority (FSA) launch its ‘Treating Customers Fairly’ Campaign and having moved to its new location, CBK Swansea embrace the FSA’ s new campaign of Treating Customers fairly and write out to all of their clients with a Customer satisfaction survey, which also asked how their services to them could be improved. To ensure that as many of the companies clients would respond as possible, CBK Swansea Ltd offered a ‘Prize Draw’ of £200′s worth of Marks & Spencer vouchers to one of its clients who responded to the survey.
- CBK Swansea Ltd expand rapidly and on the 5th January 2006 move to prestigious new offices at the former Corgi/Mettoy factory site on the Queensway in Swansea West Business Park.
- CBK (Swansea) Ltd, CBK (Nottingham) Ltd & CBK (Colchester) Ltd are launched to the financial world on the 1st December 2005. The companies have evolved over the years whilst trading under the Company name of Chadborn Baker & Kearle Ltd. The evolution of the company comes as the parent Company looks to expand its routes to market by starting its own ‘Franchise’ operation with the individual offices becoming separate companies to effectively prove that the Franchise operation can continue, before launching further franchise’s in the future.
